Of It's Time

I'm telling you, this is the week the 80's died. First, on Alice @ 97.3's morning show (for those of you not in the Bay Area, listen to it 24 hours a day on radioalice.com. It's a great station!), they had one morning where they were getting super nostalgic talking about the 80's and it's music and tv shows, which led me to think about the entertainment industry in the 80's and how it shaped my childhood. You may think that's sad, but it's a fact. TV, music and film fascinate me, and I don't mind that. Anyway, the very next day, Ed McMahon passes away. And just a few days later, Farrah Fawcett...and then Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson. Wow. Icons, gone. It happens, it'll happen to all of us, iconic or not. What does that make you think about what happens after we're gone? Does it fill you with peace or fear? If you've never taken the time to explore that, you should. Allow yourself to think it through, and talk to someone. I believe what the Bible says in Romans 10:9, that if you confess with your mouth "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, and you will spend eternity with the Lord. If you want to talk more about what this means exactly, please comment here, and I would love to tell you more about it. It's beautiful, really.

Today as I was driving home from watching Transformers, I looked up at the rearview mirror where the outside temp is displayed, and it said 81 degrees. This made me very happy. I rolled down the window and drove through downtown San Leandro and soaked in the warm, orange, late afternoon sunlight. 81 degrees is the perfect temperature, and late summer afternoon just might be the perfect time of day...mmm...almost perfect. You can't beat sunsets in the summer.

As I was driving, Baby I Love Your Way by Peter Framtpon came on. I've been bouncing around between ten different radio stations this summer, and I've managed to hear that song just about every day. That is the official song of the summer of 2009. You can't choose that sort of thing, or force it. It just happens. I can't complain. What is your song of the summer? What has your favorite memory been, so far? Enjoy these few months, friends. They are a gift, and they will soon give way to shorter days and chilly nights and thoughts of sweaters and scarves (unless you're in the Bay Area, cause then you have till about November before you have to even think of a sweater...). :)
